You can build more then a trade show booth with structural aluminum…

Jeriko House is a good concept for how to use structural aluminum members (similar to bosch’s online catalog) to fully construct a house. I can imagine how the people at Jeriko managed to build a light weight house with cladding materials that bear their weight down on structural aluminum joists and corner posts.

 However, thinking about the windows they must have spec’d, one would presume them to use a thermally broken window (aluminum-plastic-aluminum sandwich).  But this thinking would have to extend to the structural components, because instead of building a wood wall which has some inherent R value, aluminum is extremely thermally conductive and would somehow require all of the structural members to be thermally broken ( a design nightmare) Needless to say, these folks are based in the southern United States, and i don’t know if this type of product could ever, ever fly in cold climates, but it gets me thinking……
