Alright, so we told y’all about Bo. We are fairly set in what comes before Bo, and i wont make any secret out of the fact i like short strong sounding names, male and female - its like pairing a strong cheese with the peppery cab. that is the last name cash.

Bo Knows August 1st

Its been a while, blog.

Major milestone today - public release of information i’ve been holding off the internet for 3 months. baby time.

August 1st to be precise. Gender at this time is still unknown, but i’ll take to calling it by its probable middle name at this point - Bo (in honour of Julies’ dad Bobby Haber)

baby bo

Ultrasound was ‘a treat’, not like dairy queen ice cream, but like someone letting you drive a golf cart when you are young. Science has the potential to be too transparent for me - something i can find icky. But this was cool, a little window through julie’s belly, to see a 6cm baby Bo. 154bpm heart beat sounds like a deep industrial euro techno groove. If i was more of a garageband kinda guy (newman?) i would have asked for a sample as a file and made music out of it.

Healthy, developing well, i hope science will continue to deliver good news like this to me.

My Kazakh Experience

A while back we entertained a group of window manufacturers who basically do what we do, in Kazakhstan. Because of Borat’s earlier sketches it caused me to bite my tongue when they said several phrases. The pictures below are the 4 guys that came over to visit:

A little before, a little after.

I will slowly be posting photos of before and after shots of my house. I just flickr’d some reno photos from over the labour day long weekend (i laboured). I added them to my exisitng reno gallery (RAILING PICS HERE TOO!)

Here is a nice before after from the kitchen:

The first picture was taken on an open house before we owned it.

This picture was after tiling the backsplash this weekend.

The Offseason

Since the completion of the NBA season and the acute rise in temperature, i have been laying quite low. Here is a brief summary of days-gone-by:

(Part 1)
Israel-Lebanon Conflict: Wow. Yet another Right vs. Left internal head debate. Innocent Lebanese vs Destroying Terrorism. Destabilizing the Region vs Letting Irregular Armies Gain More Clout. So tough, gives me a headache thinking about it. I wish i was a hardcore liberal or hardcore right winger, at least i’d have a leg to stand on and some faith inthephilosphy and a group of yes-men around the net.

Villanueva-Ford Trade: Wow, almost as important! Never trade Big for Small. Really? ok i’ll remember when TJ is slashing to the hoop, and running the fastest offence to hit the ACC hardwood (or the Dome). TJ is the risky peice, and frankly i dont care if CV3 gets 20/10 next year. There are lots of guys that can get 20/10 if their coach allows them to shoot 20+ shots. A while ago i read anarticlecritizing Big Dog: No D, horrible +/- Charlie hasn’t shown defensive toughness, and i think he may be a talented guy, but i’d really like to see how this pans outinmilwakee this season.

My Railing / Housewarming The house is coming along well. We’ve got some nice furniture and a few paintings, mirrors, lighting etc. We are still awaiting our glass railing. Its in the shop, i just need an installation crew to lift it into a truck and bring it home. I also made some new windows at work, also waiting for some guys to free up time to slot them in. The kitchen is moving along nicely - I fitted a stainless steel hood on the weekend, and i am tilingthebacksplash as early as friday. As soon as i get these remaining tasks finished i will take a final flickr set of the after photos, and make announcments for an official housewarming.

More rants from MJ in an article from the Globe and Mail

I hope this goes the way of the spreewell, and gets no team to sign on the dotted line.

Dammit people, why are you holding mike james down?

You gotta let this guy shine his little light. Don't take it from me. Download this insane rant (mp3 here) on the fan590 last week. This clip already has cult status, i wont be suprised if it makes its way to bill simmon's page 2 in some shout-out to one of the longest, off-season rants i've ever heard given air time.

At times mj sounds like someone whos really determined and it kinda makes you want to like the guy, but then very quickly i realize that a lot of that determination comes with the same reasoning skills of when an 8 year old says "i will play in the NBA and be a doctor". Enjoy.

This long weekend in may i finally unpacked my last box labeled by Julie as "Jody Crap". Inside were a host of goodies that will show up on this blog for a long time to come. I call them retro goodies, the kind that are analog (read:old) and need to be re-awakened. Some of what i found was a collection of fairly substantial photography from ages 3-16. I also found high school 'art' photography as well as 'art' photography from university. I plan to scan some of the highlights and low lights for months to come.

I also came across some dysh1.0 stuff like some dvds and cds containing early filming / editing adventures. I'll have to some serious scanning and tagging and flickr work to bring these kodak papers up to 2.0 - One such digital creation has been brought up to 2.0 standards (lost a lot from various forms of compression) was the "dirk pitt" trailers.

Long before the movie 'Sahara' with Matthew McConaughey and Steve Zahn (quite entertaining i might add) came the idea by Sam Z to mock the book's rediculous characters through film. Sam suggested the idea after I showed up one day at Shayl + Sam's carleton residence demanding they make a film with me (due in some ridiculous deadline for university). The footage yielded two short trailers about 60 and 90 seconds respectively. The outtakes totally at least 45 minutes of tape. I've now got my hands on the original tapes, and with some luck i will post the outtakes here at a later date. But for now, enjoy the originals:
